Welcome to Skål International New Zealand

Skål International is a global professional organisation of tourism and travel leaders with a strong
footprint in New Zealand.

Skål International New Zealand has a total of five clubs spread throughout New Zealand. The inaugural club, Wellington, was formed in 1957. Auckland and Christchurch followed along with Queenstown and the latest, Te Tauihu (Top of the South Island).

Membership is open to tourism and travel professionals to join these clubs with application accepted via each club’s committee.

Currently, New Zealand boasts over 250 Skål members across the country. Each club meets regularly providing opportunities for ‘doing business amongst friends’.  In addition, all members have the opportunity to gather nationally at mid-year meetings and the annual Annual General Meeting and Congress not to mention global events, such as the World Congress.

New Zealand is proud to count amongst its own three former World Presidents,  Phil Sims who was World President in 2008; Nigel A. Pilkington  in 2016, and Peter Morrison  in 2020. We are also proud to have three Membre d’Honneur in Bill Lees, Jefferie Tippen and Leighton Cameron.

In the ANZAC tradition New Zealand has a strong bond with Skålleagues in Australia.  Since 2006 each has been represented at the others’ Annual Congress.

Skål is the only international group uniting all branches of the travel and tourism industry. Its members - the industry's managers and executives - meet at local, national, regional and international levels to discuss and pursue topics of common interest.
